Does someone you know suffer from VARICOSE VEINS or BEDSORES? Our Herb-of-the-Week can help! Create a Calendula Ointment to help with varicose veins and bedsores. Stop by Simply Blessed to pick up the dried Calendula that you can use to make this powerful ointment:
How to make a Calendula Ointment at home:
Use a half-cup of dried and powered Calendula flowers and one-cup of olive oil. Soak the Calendula power in the olive oil for 14 days. Strain the ointment, then refrigerate. Be sure to use Calendula officinalis and not Marigold flowers (which are sometimes confused with Calendula officinalis).
After you have prepared your ointment, gently apply it to affected areas, twice a day. Do not further damage veins by rubbing or massaging the ointment into the skin. Instead be gentle and spread a thin layer over the skin.
This is also a great help in healing bedsores!
Gently rub this ointment onto bedsores several times a day. If necessary, cover with gauze.
Even though Calendula is great for treating burns, never use the ointment form because of the oil content!
